REHEARSALS and CONCERTS:
· A 4 day workshop is held in August.
· Rehearsals are held on most Sundays from September to January in the Dundalk Institute of Technology.
· Please consult the schedule on our website www.cboi.ie.
· All rehearsals are conducted by Gearóid Grant. Musicians within a 2 ½ hour radius of Dundalk are expected to attend all rehearsals, workshops and concerts.
· Musicians outside a 2 ½ hour radius attend the August workshop, 1 rehearsal per month and all concerts.
· USUALLY, there are 2 concerts (matinee and evening concert) every Saturday and Sunday February (up to 16 concerts in total)
NOTE: You do not need to be a great musician to join the CBOI BUT you need to be very committed to all rehearsals and performances so that you can become a great musician.
AUDITIONS:
· There is no audition for musicians within a 2 ½ hour radius of the Dundalk Institute of Technology. These members must attend all rehearsals.
· Musicians outside a 2 ½ hour radius audition in July/August and again in January. This is ONLY to gauge their level and place them correctly within the orchestra.
· All those applying for piano must audition.
· The conductor/director may request to audition members from time to time to ensure they are making progress and/or place them correctly within the orchestra. Those who are not committed or after some considerable time are not progressing, may be asked to leave.
COSTS:
· Members pay an annual administration fee of €100
· There is no cost for workshops/rehearsals
· Members pay their transport, accommodation and subsistence costs for all tours.

The orchestra has also performed at Carnegie Hall, New York; Boston Symphony Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall; Oriental Arts Centre. Members pay their transport, accommodation and subsistence costs
START DATE:
· Places in the CBOI are given to those next in line on our register when a place becomes available on a particular instrument.
· Some new members will be joining from Sunday 21st October 2012, some will be joining in August 2013.We will notify you in advance, if you have got a place for this season or if you need to audition.
PLEASE NOTE: New members often find the huge volumes of music over whelming and difficult. The 4 hour Sunday rehearsals and concerts take a lot of stamina. Coupled with this, they may not know anybody in the orchestra and it may take time for make friends. EVERYBODY who ever joined has these difficulties. It can take up to 2 years to become comfortable and confident, and new members need to be patient and allow themselves this time to adapt. Some of our members have been with the CBOI for over 10 years.
