    Dear Sharon,

I am delighted to express my support and good wishes for the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland.

For the past 14 years, the Cross Border Orchestra has promoted peace and reconciliation and provided a platform for the youth of Ireland, irrespective of their background, to come together and express themselves through the medium of music.

These young people have worked hard and are recognised as one of Ireland’s outstanding orchestras.  They are also no strangers to the world stage and have brought joy and delight to the many people who have heard them perform over the years.

Music transcends boundaries and enriches lives. I congratulate the CBOI on the work they have done with schools all over Ireland, giving some 5,000 children a chance to learn and perform music.

I wish all concerned the very best for the future.

    With every good wish,

  • Message from a Parent

“As a parent with a child in the choir from Rathmore Primary School I felt very privileged and humbled to be able to witness something at the Waterfront Hall last Sunday that touched me very deeply.

The emotion that I felt whilst watching the energy of the conductor, the response from the orchestra, the haunting melodies and the places the pipes take you within your own soul as only they can, and the innocent powerful presence all the choirs gave with their vocals was something that will live with me for the rest of my life.

I thank you for giving my daughter the chance to experience that and to be honest, for making me a better person with a better outlook for the future of Ireland, both North and South”.

My eternal thanks and kindest regards,

    Glenn

  • What the Teachers say

    Dear Sharon,

Words cannot describe our wonderful experience singing with the ‘yellow choir’ in Cork last Saturday. The children and myself enjoyed every moment of the rehearsal and concert. When writing about the event in school today the word ‘overwhelming’ was used in every essay!

Thank you so much for providing the opportunity for us to participate. It was wonderful for the children to see the orchestra and to be part of such an inspirational concert. Our parents were totally enchanted and loved every moment of it. CBOI certainly lived up to it’s reputation as one of the most acclaimed orchestras that Ireland has ever produced.

On a personal level, I will never forget the magical atmosphere in City Hall and will look upon this concert as the highlight of my career.

Once again, thank you so much and very best wishes to you and the orchestra in future.

    Phil, Tipperary.

I do not know how to thank you and all concerned for “The Crossing”. I am very near retirement and last night was without a shadow of a doubt the highlight of my teaching career. I will always cherish the memory. If you were to return to Cork next year I would defer my retirement, such was the pleasure I got from it. These feelings are shared by the other teachers involved with our choir.

    Well done to you all,
Yours most sincerely,
Mary

    Sharon,

My name is Caitríona Ní Thuama and I was one of the teachers involved in the wonderful experience! I just wanted to thank you for allowing us to be part of such a mind blowing experience.  Both the kids and I were completely blown away and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!! All of the parents thought it was one of the most amazing performances they had even seen.  We would love to be part of such an event should you consider holding it again next year.  Thank you sincerely and well done to you!!

Caitríona

    A Chara,

We would like to put on record our sincere thanks and appreciation for being given the opportunity to take part in such an uplifting, colourful, enthusiastic and rewarding concert. It was spectacular from start to finish and there is nothing on earth like the sound of a full orchestra in full flight!

The expert direction of Maestro Gearoid Grant was a concert in itself as the man is a power house of energy and has the gift of being able to transmit his love of music and performance to all around him.

Would you please, please pass on our heartfelt appreciation and good will to all those who made the concert happen and if we ever get the opportunity to take part again we would be honoured if you would keep us in mind as it is something every child should experience.

    Mile buiochas,

    Margaret,  Cork.

    Sharon,

Thank you  for what was a great experience for the children in my choir. All the parents, children and teachers were absolutely thrilled with the whole thing. On a personal note, I was really pleased with your own professionalism and that of your team, along with the great skills shown by all but maybe a special mention for Gearóid Grant who was so good towards the children and really brought out the best in them. I (personally) was really enchanted by the orchestra and couldn’t help but become involved with the whole thing and showed my enthusiasm for the whole thing whenever I had the chance on the night. It was due to be my first day off in 5 months and I found myself working but it never felt like work, it was so enjoyable.  Again, a huge thank you to you.

    Christopher

    Hello Sharon,

On behalf of all from our school involved in Sunday’s performance, teachers, pupils and parents, I have to say it was a most wonderful and enjoyable performance. It was an incredible experience seeing so many young people perform in unison. Our pupils will remember it for a long time.

Your orchestra is magnificent and a huge credit to all who obviously work so hard to bring it all together. The famous words of Winston Churchill come to mind; “ Never have so many…….. “.

May you continue to grow from strength to strength.

    Best Wishes,

    Pat and Staff, Greaghrahan

    Dear Sharon

I think you have a winning combination of talent, leadership, passion & energy! It was a pleasure to meet you, and it was great fun to be part of the evening.   The Orchestra is wonderful.  I hope we can do a repeat performance!

    Sincerely,

    Mary

To Sharon and all at the Cross Border Orchestra,

Thanks so much for affording us the privilege to take part in the wonderful occasion that was last night’s concert – such an enjoyable night for everyone. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Everything possible was done by yourselves to make us feel  welcome and special, and considering you were doing for the second time that day, it’s even more impressive. Keep up the good work and best of luck on the trip!!!

    Áine and Annette, Dhún Dealgan

    Hi Sharon,

Just a quick note to say that yesterday afternoon’s performance was thoroughly enjoyable. Feedback from both pupils and parents has been excellent. It was a project that I am glad we got involved in and an experience that will live long in the children’s memory.  I hope that last night’s concert in the Waterfront and today’s concert in Derry are just as successful. Furthermore I hope that your Cross Border Project continues to flourish and thanks again for giving us the opportunity to participate. Finally if you are ever in The Glens of Antrim please feel free to call in.

All the best

    US TEACHER

From Delaware Valley High School to all of you guys!
Sharon,

I don’t know where to begin, but I must thank you for your extraordinary work in coordinating last night’s remarkable event.  Your careful attention to detail and your timely communications made the entire experience one that my students and I will never forget.  What a pleasure it has been to work with you and the rest of your people.   The smooth running rehearsals and incredibly exciting performance are a testament to your organizational skills and your calm and affirming approach to a task that would have overwhelmed most.

    The best to you…

    Gordon

    US TEACHER

    Hi Sharon

I hope you all had a safe trip home. The Irish Emigrant gave you a terrific write up and we are inundated with requests for your return!. What a terrific experience. We are forever indebted to CBOI for opening doors to music that until now were locked!

Thank you so much for the privilege given to all of the students involved. The picture will take pride of place in the school office today. There is a major anti climax here….the Christmas show pales in comparison to all that has happened with CBOI.

    Bravo to all of you!

    Forever grateful

    Mary

    Sharon,

THANK YOU for letting us participate in such an amazing event on so many levels.  Children, parents, other teachers who came and ourselves had a fantastic day – so thank you for all your hard work and preparation for the event.

    Sharon, thanks again,

    Anne

    Dear Sharon,

Everyone from Newcastle just loved the occasion – it was electric. Pupils, parents and staff as yet haven’t quite got the feet back on the ground. We had a special assembly this morning and one parent has just told me the lady who sat beside her turned to her and said, I just feel so full of goodness sitting here in this concert.

Put our name on the list for next year , it was so worthwhile. Anyway thank you for giving our pupils such a wonderful opportunity, we all loved it and wish the CBOI  every success in the future.

    Many, many thanks,

    Pat, Newcastle

    Sharon,

On behalf of my pupils, their parents, the staff involved in the project and our school I want to say thank-you for the great opportunity to perform with your orchestra. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and the pupils all want to take part again as soon as possible. We will look forward to watching the DVD! The project has resurrected the choir in our school and injected a great enthusiasm for singing and Music into the pupils. Great fun! Thanks again

    Caroline

    Sharon,

I just want to thank you for the wonderful opportunity that the orchestra provided for our children last Saturday evening. To have the privilege of singing in the wonderful venue that is the Waterfront Hall with a group of such young and talented people to accompany you has no doubt provided memories that will last for many years to come. Those in attendance in the audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I wish the group all the very best for the future and pledge our support for your work in the future should we be able to assist in any way.

Once again many thanks.

    Sharon,

Thank you so much for providing a small semi-rural school with the opportunity to sing in an amazing setting with an orchestra, conductor and soloist of high quality. All our singers are also musicians and they were particularly fascinated by the orchestra (there have been requests for violins and drums). The children were enraptured by the evening and the parents thought it was just brilliant. Needless to say I thought it was wonderful too.

Good luck with your plans, your travels, your ambitions and your fundraising.
